International Children’s Museum Proposed

The Rizzo Companies hosted a two day “charrette” for an envisioned International Children’s Museum for the greater Danbury area. The charrette brought together a group of diverse individuals in collaborative sessions to discuss, outline, and design the international children’s museum. The group broke up into small sub groups, tasked with specific questions and design problems, which then presented their ideas and solutions to the entire group for discussion. The sessions created a vision for the project, enabling the design team to take that vision and develop conceptual renderings and an organizational structure for the future.

Children’s museums provide informal learning experiences for children. Typical museums are hands-off exhibits, while the children’s museum concept features interactive exhibits designed to be manipulated by the children, stimulating creativity and exploration. The international aspect of this project will bring together the diversity within the greater Danbury area, engaging the children with other cultures and their customs.

We look forward to participating in the future and commend the development committee on their hard work and enthusiasm that we know will make their dream a reality.
