Anthony Rizzo Sr. was born in Italy just one month after his father’s death. Unable to speak a word of English, he was sent to the United States at the age of twelve to live with his relatives, where hard work and intense determination reaped significant rewards. In 1962, four years after he graduated from Danbury's Henry Abbott Technical High School, Anthony Sr. and his wife Joan founded A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors Inc. Since then, the Rizzo family of companies have been performing high quality general construction, design build, construction management, and electrical contracting services for over 55 years.

Building on its base of electrical contracting found in the first Rizzo family business, A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc., Rizzo Corporation was formed in 1981, offering Construction Management and General Contracting services. With management succession in the 1990’s to the second-generation president, Anthony M. Rizzo Jr., the companies have enjoyed continued growth, consistently outperforming the market. Anthony Rizzo Jr. has led the companies since 1992, and he continues to carry on the same principals of his father.

In January 2018, Tony Rebeiro, brother-in-law to Anthony Rizzo Jr., took over the role of President, while Anthony Rizzo Jr. remained CEO, marking another succession into family hands. Anthony Rizzo III, a third generation Rizzo, has joined the ranks and was promoted to Executive Vice President as well. Several younger family members have joined the company, learning the family business from the bottom up, marking the third generation of the Rizzo family involved in the management of several key projects. Rizzo is one of the few area construction firms that is truly family owned and operated.

Today, the Rizzo companies have over $350 million in active contracts, and the Rizzo family of companies now includes environmental services and property management development.

Few people have truly discovered the secret to “La Dolce Vita” (the sweet life) like Anthony Sr., who truly lives the sweet life. His secret? He lives by three simple rules which are at the core of the Rizzo Corporation Philosophy:
